JANUARY'S GUEST ARTIST:

ENVIRONMENTAL ARTIST, MICHAEL HIGGINS’ WORK IS A CUT ABOVE THE REST.

That’s because Michael Higgins’ creative tool of preference is a chain saw. He’s a Rhode Island native, who works out of Tiverton and whose wood sculptures you’ve probably seen at Roger Williams Park Zoo, Johnson and Wales University, Roger Williams University, the Pawtucket Visitors’ Center, the Boston Zoo, or perhaps McCoy Stadium.

He burst onto the art scene at the 1995 RI Spring Flower and Garden Show with his first major publicly acknowledged sculpture creation, a fourteen-foot, strobe-eyed, smoke-breathing, white birch tree dragon named “Waldo.”

Michael will be our guest speaker discussing his special creative process with us at the next CCCP meeting. (Note: earplugs will not be required.)

When: Wed. Jan 27th; 6pm
Where: the Hi-Hat, Davol Sq. Providence
How much: Free for paid-up CCCP members. $25 for others which can be applied to your yearly  membership of $125

(Free snacks and a cash bar)

The Creative Communications Club of Providence was founded in 1996 as a forum for professionals in a wide range of creative endeavors. At our monthly meetings we exchange ideas, explore issues of mutual interest, and host guest speakers who share a wide range of creative processes with us.

Meetings are monthly (except for June, July and August) and are held at various venues, usually on Wednesday or Thursday nights starting at 6:30pm. Meeting announcements are sent out one or two weeks in advance.

Dues are $125 for the season. Or, you can pay as you go ($25 per meeting). The CCCP is a non-profit organization and all money goes toward creating meetings and hiring speakers. (As a paid member, you can bring a first-time guest for $5.)
